Apple just opened applications for its fifth annual Entrepreneur Camp, and for the first time since it started in 2019, it will feature in-person sessions, Apple Developer said Tuesday. Until now it’s been all-virtual, mainly due to COVID-19 pandemic precautions.

Apple called the camp “a one-on-one, product-focused technology lab designed to empower underrepresented founders and developers, elevate their app-driven businesses and build dynamic communities.”

Apple Entrepreneur Camp welcomes applications; in-person sessions planned

The iPhone giant said it created Apple Entrepreneur Camp to empower app-driven businesses with founders and/or developers from underrepresented communities — as in female, Black, Hispanic/Latinx and indigenous. Founded in 2019, now the fifth Apple Entrepreneur Camp welcomes applications. Apple said:

Research shows that founders from underrepresented communities face unique challenges, especially when starting and leading technology companies. We created Apple Entrepreneur Camp with the goal of supporting these founders and their organizations as they build the next generation of cutting-edge apps and to form a global network that encourages the pipeline and longevity of underrepresented founders and developers in technology.

Apple said potential participants should have the following:

  • An app-driven business
  • An app that uses Apple technologies and frameworks.
  • A functional and complete app that’s available on the App Store, as a beta build on TestFlight or as an .IPA in an equivalent state.

Access to Apple leaders and engineers

Apple called the camp’s heart an “intensive technology lab, where you’ll work one-on-one with Apple experts and engineers to significantly accelerate your app.”

The company emphasized not only access to Apple experts, but relationships between attendees. “At the conclusion of the lab, you’ll present your progress, get feedback, and participate in alumni programming (including presenting a live demo of your app),” it said.

So here’s your chance to get ahead with your apps. Find out how to apply.

And you can view apps from camp alumni, too.
