Buying an iPhone in India? Here’s why you’ll be able to get it for less

For the majority of the year so far, Apple has been facing problems with iPhone sales in China. A Counterpoint report earlier in March claimed Apple’s iPhone sales had fallen 24% in the first six weeks of the year compared to the same period last year. And now, shipments have taken a 6.7% nosedive in the latest quarter, according to Canalys. So, Apple is turning its attention to India, one of its other largest Asian markets.

For the first time ever, Apple is lowering prices on the current generation iPhones in India. This comes after the Indian government decided to reduce import duties on smartphones from a hefty 20% to a more digestible 15%. So, what’s the price reduction on iPhones? We’re looking at a modest 3% to 4% cut across the board.
