Apple Intelligence will go live with iOS 18.1 release in October with US English support. During the “It’s Glowtime” iPhone 16 launch event, Apple confirmed it will expand Apple Intelligence’s language support next year.
The list of supported languages will increase even further next year, with the company planning to add more languages than initially announced.
Apple Intelligence will support more languages in 2025
Apple Intelligence is not part of iOS 18‘s initial release. Instead, Apple will roll out its suite of AI features with iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 in October. But when it goes live, Apple Intelligence will only work on devices with language set to US English. In December, the company will follow up with support for English dialects in a few more regions. This includes Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.
In 2025, Apple will expand this list further by supporting Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish languages. As revealed to The Verge, the company will now add support for more languages than initially planned. The new dialects and languages are as follows:
- English (India)
- English (Singapore)
- German
- Italian
- Korean
- Portuguese
- Vietnamese
Don’t be surprised about the lack of support for EU languages and regions. Apple will not bring Apple Intelligence to Europe due to the EU’s Digital Markets Act.
You can try Apple Intelligence on your iPhone now!
You don’t need to wait for Apple to officially add support for your dialect to try Apple Intelligence. Once iOS 18.1 lands (or if you are running the beta), change the language on your iPhone, iPad or Mac to English (US) from Settings > General > Language & Region to enable Apple Intelligence. This trick will also work if your iPhone or iPad is currently running the latest iOS 18.1 or iPadOS 18.1 beta.
Do note that even though iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 will gain access to Apple Intelligence with iOS 18.1, many of the AI features will not arrive until early 2025.
