Apple claims the new internal design of the iPhone 16 series makes battery replacement easier. Yet, the company will charge more for the battery replacement of its latest iPhones.
After a price hike in March 2023, the Cupertino company charges $99 for an iPhone’s battery replacement. However, replacing the battery of the iPhone 16 Pro lineup will cost $119, an increase of 20%.
iPhone 16 Pro’s battery replacement fee is 20% higher than previous iPhones
With Apple Care, Apple will replace your iPhone’s battery if its health drops below 80%. However, the standard warranty does not provide such coverage. Instead, Apple will replace your phone’s battery for a fee. The service is also helpful when you want to replace your iPhone’s battery after a few years of use.
Apple charges $99 for battery replacement for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 series. However, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are 20% more expensive and cost $119. If you have AppleCare+, the service fee for the battery replacement remains the same at $29.
The price increase does not apply to the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, whose battery replacement still costs $99. Apple’s iPhone Repair and Service page offers an estimate of your iPhone’s battery and screen replacement fee.
The price hike comes despite Apple claiming battery replacement on its new iPhones is easier than ever. It could be due to the Pro iPhones shipping with a larger battery, which allows them to last longer.
No price hike for iPhone 16 Pro’s screen replacement
Interestingly, the screen replacement fee for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max remains unchanged. Despite shipping with bigger displays, replacing the iPhone 16 Pro series display from Apple costs $279 and $329. That’s the same as the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max.
Until early 2023, Apple’s battery replacement charges were more considerate. Back then, Replacing the iPhone 14’s battery cost $69, while that of older iPhones — like the iPhone SE or iPhone 8 — set you back by $49. But in March 2023, Apple bumped iPhone battery replacement prices by $20. A similar price hike also went into effect for MacBooks, increasing battery replacement costs by $30 to $50.
