Appleās rumored iPhone 17 Air for 2025 could use a new A19 chip and a single rear camera. It would seemingly sport an all-new, slimmer design.
Rumors suggest Apple will shake up its iPhone 17 lineup next year, ditching the Plus model in favor of an āAirā model.
iPhone 17 Air specs detailed, again
With the launch of the iPhone 14 in 2022, Apple dropped the āminiā model and introduced the iPhone 14 Plus. It packed a big 6.7-inch display while retaining the same specs as the regular iPhone 14. The iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 16 Plus followed in subsequent years.
Despite the bigger display, the āPlusā model has apparently not clicked with consumers. So, rumors indicate Apple will shake up the iPhone lineup again in 2025, dropping the Plus variant. Instead, it will introduce the iPhone 17 Air/Slim, which will stand out for its slimmer design. It will supposedly be Appleās slimmest iPhone yet.
In a research note shared with MacRumors, Haitong International analyst Jeff Pu detailed the phoneās possible specs. The analyst believes the slim new iPhone will pack a 6.6-inch display and an A19 chip with 8GB RAM. As for cameras, it will seemingly have a single 48MP rear shooter and a 24MP front camera. For biometrics, it might use Face ID and feature an aluminum chassis.
Apple might prioritize slimness over functionality
A single 48MP rear camera might disappoint many. However, Apple might have had to make this sacrifice to achieve the Airās slimmer profile.
The 8GB RAM will ensure the iPhone 17 Air supports Apple Intelligence. As for the 24MP front camera, the entire iPhone 17 lineup will purportedly get this upgrade. The Pro models are also rumored to get a 48MP periscope shooter.
Puās claims matchĀ a leak from July this year detailing theĀ alleged specs of the iPhone 17 Air. That leak also noted that the phone could cost more than the iPhone 17 Pro Max, with a rumored price of $1,300.
Given the specs and the high price tag, the iPhone 17 Air might be a hard sell for Apple.
