Apple Music now lets artists publish their concert set lists as playlists

Apple has built a new tool for artists wishing to build more engagement among fans on Apple Music. The tool enables turning concert set lists into new artist-published Apple Music playlists.

Set list playlists will appears on artist pages in Apple Music, Shazam

Per the Apple Music for Artists hub:

Turn a set list from your latest show into a playlist on Apple Music for Artists on the web. Share your Set List playlist with fans on Apple Music and social media to promote upcoming tour dates, let fans relive your concerts, and connect with listeners.

Keeping your Bandsintown account updated with your concert and tour dates is the easiest way to create your Set List. Your upcoming show dates can link to your artist page on Shazam, Spotlight Search, and Apple Maps, and can make it easier to set up your Set List in your Apple Music for Artists account.

Artists who create new set lists playlists will be able to not only share the link with fans, but also add the playlist to their artist page inside Apple Music, Shazam, and more.

Artist tools appears to be one way Apple Music seeks to differentiate itself from the competition.

Apple’s editorial team will continue to create its own curated playlists, but letting artists make new playlists based on concert set lists puts a little more power in musicians’ hands.

What do you think of this new feature? Do you hope to see more set lists in Apple Music? Let us know in the comments.
