An alleged unboxing video of the M4 MacBook Pro went live on YouTube over the weekend. The early hands-on reveals Apple’s next MacBook will pack impressive performance improvements.

The video confirms the M4 MacBook Pro’s specs, featuring a 10-core CPU, 16GB RAM, and an unchanged design but with a color twist.

Apple’s next entry-level MacBook Pro might feature three USB-C ports

A recent report detailed Apple’s next-gen M4 MacBook Pro and Mac mini could debut as soon as November 1. Russian YouTuber Wylsacom managed to obtain the base 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M4 chip ahead of the official release.

The sticker on the back of the machine’s box confirms it will feature a 10-core CPU and a 10-core GPU. The device will come with 16GB of RAM, which Apple appears to be making the standard for its new Pro laptops. The laptop will apparently pack three Thunderbolt 4 ports, one more than the base M3 variant.

Interestingly, Apple may introduce the M4 MacBook Pro in Space Black, a color currently exclusive to the M3 Pro models. It will also come with a color-matched space black USB-C cable, though the power brick will remain white.

M4 MacBook Pro could bring a 25% performance boost

Following the unboxing, the YouTuber put the M4 MacBook Pro through a Geekbench test. The machine scored 3864 in the single-core and 15,288 in the multi-core benchmarks. This roughly represents a 25% performance boost over the M3 MacBook Pro. The latter scores around 3800 and 15200 in Geekbench’s single-core and multi-core benchmarks, respectively.

The performance boost is likely a combination of the M4 chip shipping with additional CPU cores, featuring a higher clock speed and architectural improvements.

It is difficult to ascertain how the Russian YouTuber obtained the M4 MacBook Pro weeks before its release. Nonetheless, the YouTuber will likely be forced to take the video offline soon, so make sure to check it out before that.
