Apple releases another security update for iTunes on Windows

Appleā€™s iTunes was discontinued a long time ago, but the software still survives on Windows. For users who still rely on iTunes, the company recently released an important security update for the software.

Security update available for iTunes

Apple on Thursday published the security content notes for iTunes 12.13.3, which was recently released for Windows users. According to the company, the update fixes an exploit that allowed a local attacker to elevate his privileges. Apple says the exploit has been fixed with ā€œimproved restrictions.ā€

Although Apple still regularly updates iTunes on Windows with security patches, itā€™s been a while since any new features have been introduced to the software.

Earlier this year,Ā Apple officially launched its standalone Apple Music and Apple TV apps for WindowsĀ after making them available as beta versions. Thereā€™s also an app dedicated to managing iOS devices for things like backing up and restoring software. Even so, thereā€™s still no way to use Apple Podcasts on Windows without iTunes.

If you have iTunes installed on your Windows PC, make sure you install the latest version available. To do this, open iTunes, click on the Help menu and then choose the Check for Updates option. If you installedĀ iTunes through the Microsoft Store, the new version of the app should be installed automatically.
