Grammarly Welcomes Mark Schaaf and Navam Welihinda

I’m thrilled to announce that we have hired two exceptional leaders to join Grammarly: Mark Schaaf as Chief Technology Officer and Navam Welihinda as Chief Financial Officer. Both bring extensive experience in guiding businesses through transformative periods. Their arrivals mark an exciting new chapter in our commitment to innovation and excellence.

Mark brings deep experience as an engineering leader across many stages of company building. Before joining Grammarly, Mark was the CTO at Instacart. He led an impressive engineering team that helped grow the business tenfold in four years and build the product’s technical foundation ahead of the company’s initial public offering. Previously, he also served as the CTO at Thumbtack and held leadership roles at Google, AdMob, and Retool.

Navam has a proven track record of leading finance and corporate development in scaling organizations. He joins Grammarly after serving as the CFO of HashiCorp, where he led the finance organization during the company’s successful initial public offering in December 2021. Prior to his time scaling technology companies, he worked on the investment side at Insight Venture Partners, American Capital Strategies, and Sierra Ventures.

People count on Grammarly to help elevate their communication no matter where and how they work. We take the trust people place in Grammarly very seriously. Mark and Navam’s leadership will be instrumental in helping us achieve our ambitious goals—the opportunities ahead of us are limitless. In today’s AI-driven world, showing up as your best self at work is essential; with Grammarly, that ideal becomes a reality.
