Carrier stores and contract deals
If you want to buy the latest iPhone for less than the full retail price, you’re probably going to need to get it from a carrier or mobile provider, and there will often be significant strings attached. These deals can be complicated, so be sure to read the fine print. You can purchase directly from Apple with activation on a carrier to get special carrier deals, though you may have more options if you buy from one of the carriers below.
In the U.S., Apple is once again partnering with carriers to offer discounts on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. You get a $30 discount if you buy a phone activated on AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile. That’s why Apple lists the price of the iPhone 16 as $799 and the iPhone 16 Plus as $899—that’s the price with the carrier-activated discount applied.

Apple will let you trade in your old iPhone and get up to $650 in credit toward a new purchase. You can also trade an old iPhone with Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart. We cover How to sell or trade-in old iPhone separately.
