iPhone 16 event date confirmed

In an interesting turn of events, sources familiar with Apple’s plans reportedly confirmed the iPhone 16 event date as September 10, according to a new report. That date happens to match a recent hoax report that circulated online, adding an unexpected twist to Apple’s biggest product launch of the year, with the iPhone 16 lineup, Apple Watch 10 and more expected.

iPhone 16 event date confirmed as September 10, like a recent hoax claimed

According to the anonymous sources, Apple is now preparing for the Tuesday event, Bloomberg reported. Pretty much everyone expects the iPhone giant to unveil the latest iterations of flagship products: the iPhone 16 lineup, Apple Watches (Series 10, Ultra 3 and SE3), and various AirPods, including a budget set. While Apple has not officially announced the date, this information aligns with the company’s typical schedule in recent years (like 2019, when September 10 was the exact date). And the date just so happens to be the same one a hoaxer chose to put out as a fake leak last week. Cult of Mac and others reported on it. And then we spoke with the prankster, who said he might do it again.

Bloomberg‘s sources also indicated that the new iPhones would likely go on sale on September 20, following Apple’s usual pattern of releasing products shortly after an announcement.

This year’s launch is particularly crucial for Apple, as the company has faced challenges with sluggish sales in its smartphone and wearable device categories. The timing of the iPhone 16 release could potentially boost Apple’s fiscal fourth-quarter revenue, with analysts projecting even stronger growth in the following quarter, which includes the holiday shopping season.

The upcoming iPhone 16 is rumored to feature larger screens on its Pro models and new camera capabilities, including a dedicated photo-taking button that may appear on all four models. Apple is also said to be introducing a suite of AI tools called Apple Intelligence. However, overall changes are expected to be incremental compared to last year’s models.

More significant updates are anticipated for Apple’s wearable devices. The Apple Watch Series 10 is reportedly set to become thinner while featuring larger screens. The AirPods lineup is also due for a revamp, with new low-end and mid-tier versions, including the introduction of noise cancellation to the mid-level AirPods for the first time.

As usual, Apple declined to comment, Bloomberg noted.
