Today, I’m excited to announce our partnership with Moderna, a leader in establishing the field of mRNA medicine, to offer mRNAs as Medicines, a free course that provides a comprehensive overview of mRNA medicines, how they work, and their potential applications.
This beginner course is open to anyone and everyone who is curious about the mRNA technology advancements. The interactive course showcases how mRNA can be applied in modern medicine, including vaccines and therapies for infectious diseases, immuno-oncology, rare diseases, and more:
- Module 1: Introduces the fundamental concepts of proteins and mRNAs, explaining their structures, how they are made, and the crucial roles they play in the human body.
- Module 2: Covers classic molecular approaches to developing medicines and how recent technological advances have expanded our options, exploring how proteins and mRNAs can be used as medicines.
- Module 3: Explores the diverse types of mRNA medicines and their potential applications in preventing and treating diseases.
“By partnering with Coursera to offer this free course to everyone, we can help learners deepen their understanding of mRNA science, this new era of medicine, and its positive impact on human health,” said Tracey Franklin, Chief Human Resources Officer of Moderna. “At Moderna, we champion learning and believe it can transform our lives.”
Moderna has been a leader in establishing the field of mRNA medicine and has helped millions of people worldwide combat the pandemic. With an estimated 3.5 million STEM jobs that will need to be filled in the U.S. by 2025, this partnership will advance scientific education and make it more accessible to all.
