Would you go this wide with your external display? [Setups]

Some people prefer two or more displays in their computer setup, some go for just one — often a big one. Today’s outstanding MacBook Pro setup, run by an Apple admin no less, goes ultra-wide and then some with a 49-inch curved Samsung display. It’s massive.

Apple admin opts for super-ultra-wide display for his M2 Pro MacBook Pro setup

Jamf Apple administrator and Redditor moosetender showcased the striking M2 MacBook Pro setup in a post entitled, “the work from home setup.” Jamf, by the way, is an Apple-forward device-management software company. At the end of the gear list described below Moose added, [and] “lots and lots of cables,” and “a few more iPads and MacBooks. I’m a Jamf admin, need the extras to test stuff.” He added that he manages “thousands of Mac, iPad and iPhones” in response to a question about how he uses the iPad Pro shown in the photograph.

We covered his fantastic setup — especially the powerful M2 MacBook Pro and CalDigit Thunderbolt 4 dock — in a recent post. Now we’ll look at the endlessly wide display.

On a broad and stout Uplift standing desk, moosetender runs his 16-inch M2 Pro MacBook Pro. Through the well-regarded CalDigit Thunderbolt 4 dock it drives an epic 49-inch Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 ultra wide mini LED curved gaming monitor with the screen space of two 27-inch panels. Well-mounted on a flexible arm, it sports a 240Hz refresh rate an a 1ms response time.

For input devices, he’s got a highly customizable Keychron Q3 ten keyless (no num pad) mechanical keyboard with a control knob and the acclaimed Logitech MX Master 3S for Mac wireless mouse.
